About Mary

The short version...

I’m a movement and mindset coach who loves helping horse and dog enthusiasts improve physical ability, emotional resilience and quality of connection between themselves and their animal companions.

I know first-hand what it's like to live with pain and limitation.  I remember when it hurt to ride, hike, run or even sit.

Needless to say, I was often stressed and tired.

With the help of the Feldenkrais MethodÂŽ, I stopped hurting and started really living. As my body improved, so did my thinking.

I gained confidence and made BIG decisions to create the life I dreamed of.

That's why I'm passionate about helping others feel good too. For over 30 years, I've been teaching people how to feel better than ever. In body and mind.

🐴And showing them how to help their horses, dogs and cats move easier and feel better too.🐶😺

As a Certified FeldenkraisŽ Practitioner and NLP Practitioner, I'm uniquely qualified to help you achieve mastery in your movement AND mindset, so you can live the life you've dreamed of.

I'd love to help you too.

As a best-selling, award-winning author and international clinician, I've been a featured presenter at equine and canine conferences, including Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA), Holistic Pet Health, Progressive Hoof Care Practitioners (PHCP), The Feldenkrais Summit and PATH Int'l.

On a personal note...

My husband Gary, our rescue dog Tony 🐶 and I live in a sweet little home near San Diego, California. Fun fact: hubby is a Feldenkrais® Practitioner too!

I had so much fun hiking and running with my bay quarter horse Breeze. You can read about our shenanigans here. Breeze came into my life as a badly abused rescue. We built an incredible bond of trust and connection through R+ liberty play. You can watch another short video of Breeze and me playing here.

Breeze learned how to hold a whip in his mouth and chase me with it in the span of 5 minutes. Yes, he was that smart!  Sadly, my beloved Breeze passed away in June 2023. I miss him so much and I'm incredibly grateful for the 18 wonderful years we had together. ❤️🐴

My Philosophy

Helping you and your animals move easier and live happier. Together.

Who I Help

I’m a Feldenkrais® practitioner and the creator of Debono Moves, a gentle, hands-on approach that helps people and their animals—especially horses and dogs—rediscover ease, comfort, and connection.

I work with equestrians and dog lovers who are struggling with stiffness, tension, or disconnection—whether in their own bodies or in the movement and well-being of their animals. Together, we explore simple, effective ways to reduce discomfort and build a stronger bond—without pushing, forcing, or straining.

Why They Struggle

My take is that the real reason people struggle is often because they’ve been taught to push through, to fix, or to control—unintentionally overriding the nervous system’s natural intelligence.

This affects not only their own bodies, but also their animals. A rider may zero in on their horse’s stiffer side or try to correct asymmetries—thinking this will improve performance or comfort.

A dog may quietly compensate for discomfort or tension, sometimes without anyone noticing. These well-intentioned efforts, while done with care and commitment, can actually lead to more tension, resistance, or disconnection—on both ends of the lead rope or leash.

What Happens If Nothing Changes

If this approach doesn’t shift, the worst outcome is often a sense of frustration or helplessness. A rider may feel disconnected from their horse. A dog guardian may worry they’re not doing enough. And both may feel the joy slipping away from something that once felt deeply meaningful.

What’s Possible Instead

But when you learn to listen differently—to your own body and to your animal—you open the door to transformation.
The best outcome? A freer, more balanced body. A horse who moves with confidence and ease. A dog who feels seen, supported, and safe. And a partnership built on trust, responsiveness, and mutual well-being.

What’s Needed Most

What I believe people need most is a new way of listening and relating—one that taps into the nervous system’s potential and allows change to happen through softness, presence, and awareness.

Not through correction or control—but through curiosity and conversation.

In a Nutshell

This isn’t about fixing.
It’s about discovering new possibilities. Together.
